APPLY FOR MEMBERSHIP

Design Innovation membership levels:

DI TEAM MEMBER 
  1. Serves in an active advisory capacity to help in creatively visualizing and implementing the agreed goals & objectives of the Design Innovation Initiative determined by the DI TEAM as a whole 
  2. Attends the monthly DI TEAM meetings (with a minimum goal of attending at least 3 per semester and one during the summer term) 
  3. Participates as an active member on at least one of the DI TASK FORCE teams to advance the mission of the initiative 
  4. Keeps the DI Initiative active in your daily activities and thoughts, with intention to considering how the actions/projects etc. that you are involved in through your respective role at Kent State can be conducted and/or perceived in connection with Design Innovation
  5. Is recognized for their active role as a "DI TEAM" member by gaining first opportunities to teach and/or lead a course or co-curricular DI activities
  6. Has prioritized opportunity to access and utilize the Design Innovation Hub facilities to support cross-disciplinary faculty/student projects
DI REGULAR MEMBER 
  1. Is included on the list for distribution of DI TEAM agendas and communications 
  2. Expected to support and advocate DI from your perspective 
  3. You would be welcome to attend DI TEAM meetings, but not required 
  4. Has prioritized opportunity to access and utilize the Design Innovation Hub facilities to support cross-disciplinary faculty/student projects 
  5. Is eligible to submit for small funding support of cross-disciplinary challenge-based innovation projects/events
DI AFFILIATE MEMBER 
  1. Is willing to mentor, advise and/or support a DI project or course in any way 
  2. Is willing to co-teach a DI course and/or propose a challenge based innovation topic for consideration 
  3. Would like to receive regular updates on the DI initiative 
  4. Will serve to advocate for DI in their respective roles when appropriate
  5. Is eligible to submit for small funding support of cross-disciplinary challenge-based innovation projects/events
DI FELLOW (STUDENT)

*Selection into the DI Fellows Student Program is competitive.  Students selecting this level of membership will be contacted to discuss the further review process.

  1. Students from Kent State University campus who are willing to work in cohorts on short workshops and training sessions; then be collated into collaborative teams to participate/compete in challenge style events, such as the hackathons
  2. Willing to engage in a series of experiences that help to deeply embed cross-disciplinary collaborative design thinking methods to addressing innovation at the intersection between disciplines
  3. Expected to complete training successfully to be recognized as official "Design Innovation Fellows" who will assist in mentoring and leadership on future DI Challenges
  4. Ability to take leadership and act as mentors on further student DI Challenges
  5. Can submit proposals to gain prioritized access to dedicated DI Fellow working spaces in the Design Innovation Hub
  6. Is eligible to submit for small funding support of cross-disciplinary challenge-based innovation projects/events
  7. Becomes part of a community of diverse maker/problem-solvers and receives all newsletters and announcements about Design Innovation directly
DI STUDENT
  1. As a student of Design Innovation, you are willing to develop a distinct set of problem-finding and problem-solving skills, building a toolkit of proficiencies to apply collaborative design thinking approaches in various ways from within your major and beyond
  2. Willing to become the creative cross-disciplinary leaders of innovation in future workplace environments
  3. Becomes part of a community of diverse maker/problem-solvers and receives all newsletters and announcements about Design Innovation directly
