Comparing Diversities Conference: Redefining Diversity for the Global Citizen
Diversity, in the many forms in which presents itself – racial, ethnic, religious, gendered, sexual, linguistic etc. just to name a few ways in which we see and experience it – is a characteristic feature of contemporary societies. It is a crucial phenomenon in the context of an always more globalized and interconnected world that is perceived as problematic. The peaceful and meaningful coexistence among diverse human beings requires a new set of skills and sensibility for approaching ‘otherness’ and for better making sense of our place within our always more diversified communities in which we live and work. Understanding diversity, and consequently managing it in the light of a growing equity and inclusion is a strategic activity that involves educators, administrators, and more in general the entire university community.
