Scholarship awards are based on a variety of criteria including academic merit, talent, demonstrated financial need, field of study, participation in a specific program, organization or activity.

Below is a list of current, endowed scholarships offered by the division.


University Scholarships

DEI Scholarship

  • This scholarship is awarded to underrepresented and underserved students at Kent State University and who are in good academic standing. To be eligible applicants must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Additionally, applicants must demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA.
  • Multiple awards of $500.
  • Class Standing: FR, SO, JR, SR, Masters

Student Persistence Award (Lester A. Lefton Persistence Award)

  • This scholarship is awarded to underrepresented students who are rising juniors or seniors at Kent State University. To be eligible applicants must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Additionally, applicants must demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA.
  • Multiple awards of $500.
  • Class Standing: JR, SR

Harry E. Jackson LGBT Endowed Scholarship 

  • This scholarship provides financial assistance to selected students in good standing and whom identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or as an ally to the LGBTQ community at Kent State University. Students must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine financial need.
  • Award amount based on endowment distribution.
  • Class Standing: Freshman (not incoming), SO, JR, SR, Graduating Senior, Masters

Women's Center Endowed Scholarship

  • The Women's Center endowed scholarship fund, established in 2003, enables the center to provide two Kent State University female students with a $500 scholarship. Recipients of the awards are expected to maintain contact with the Women's Center for the duration of that academic year and will be student members of the Women's Center Advisory Board.
  • Multiple awards of $500.

National Scholarships

Daughter's of the America Revolution Scholarships

The NSDAR awards multiple scholarships to students showing dedication to the pursuit of degrees in diverse disciplines including history, law, nursing, and education.

The DAR Scholarship Committee awards scholarships to qualified applicants regardless of race, religion or sex. All applicants must be United States citizens. All multi-year scholarships, typically renewable up to four years, must be for consecutive years of attendance at an accredited college or university in the United States. The only exception is the American Indian Scholarship that is available for students pursuing vocational training.
