Steps to Apply
Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
1. Consider required and preferred characteristics
- Locate your program's requirements in the Kent State Catalog.
2. Contact the appropriate faculty member to discuss application

3. If you are new to Kent State (i.e., you are not currently enrolled as a graduate student at the university), prepare and submit the following:
- Apply Online for Certificate
- Personal Statement and Resume
- Two Letters of Reference
- Official Transcripts
- $15 Application fee
4. If you are a currently enrolled graduate student at Kent State, prepare and submit the following:
- Apply Online for Certificate
- $15 Application fee
Note to currently enrolled Kent State graduate students: You may want to email Graduate Studies, gradapps@kent.edu, to make sure they are clear you are a current graduate student and should use the materials you have on file with them (personal statement, transcripts, and letters of recommendation).
Once a completed file has been forwarded to the program advisor, the applicant will be contacted to discuss the file and/or schedule an interview. We make every effort to consider each application and make a decision in a time frame that respects both your schedule and ours. However, please plan to have your application completed well in advance of the semester you wish to begin taking coursework.
