Spotlight Speaker Series | Human Development & Family Studies | Kent State University

The Nonprofit Spotlight Speaker Series was established in 2016 due to a high level of interest by our students in learning more about the many nonprofit organizations in our community and how they, as future nonprofit professionals, can effectively lead organizations such as these in the future. These events have featured:

  • Dan Flowers, Executive Director of the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank
  • Ming Hao-Shiao , Director of Education and Employment at the International Institute of Akron
  • Terri Heckman, Executive Director of the Battered Women's Shelter and Rape Crisis Center of Summit and Medina Counties
  • Anne Victory, Director of Education of the Collaborative to End Human Trafficking. She will discuss educating and advocating for the prevention and abolition of human trafficking, while connecting services on behalf of trafficked persons.

Our next event will feature Kara Ulmer, Director of World Relief Akron. She will discuss their focus of serving vulnerable refugees in our local area.
