Researcher in Iceland, Ireland

Dr. Mary Ann Devine, a professor in Recreation, Park & Tourism Management, was selected to be a research delegate by the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities for their 2017 Delegation to Iceland and Ireland. The goal of the delegation is to research the supports provided for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Iceland and Ireland that promote their greater inclusion in society. Delegates met with researchers and students from universities, as well as with government officials, human service providers, educators, and persons with Intellectual/Developmental disabilities from both countries. In addition, Devine delivered research presentations on “Best Practices in Inclusive Leisure Environments in the U.S.” with Icelandic and Irish government officials, disability advocates and classes at the University of Reykjavik and Trinity University in Dublin.
