ADED Science

The most important thing I’ve learned is to be willing to be adaptive for students, such as being willing to adjust my pace/teaching style to best meet my students’ future/current needs.

Some of my students may not be understanding the manner in which I ask a question, so I would need to adjust how I say it or plan my questions to better support their learning. Also, a certain section of material may take more time to go through with a group of students than I originally planned, and I need to give them more time. Also being adaptive in how I am available for consultation and discussion, and for noticing and addressing any sort of underlying social/life issues which may be affecting their wellbeing.

The life of a teacher is a life of adapting, adapting to best meet the needs of students.

What I am most looking forward to in my upcoming career is getting the chance to work with students of all different backgrounds. I love my interactions with high schoolers; they have such diverse personalities and interests. It is my joy - now as a student teacher, and my hope for the future - to meet students where they’re at and help them to succeed in their pursuits in life. Both academically and as individuals.
