In Case You Missed It...

Dr. Adam Jajtner - Exercise Science

Join Dr. Adam Jajtner to learn about undergraduate research opportunities for students in the Exercise Science program and how he has incorporated students into his own research. He also discusses what kinds of research he has worked on with students as well as the research students have done on their own.

Dr. Karl Kosko - Early Childhood Education

In this session, Dr. Karl Kosko describes how research on Virtual Reality is changing how we educate future teachers. The session includes an overview of how Kent State is integrating use of 360 video in its teacher education program to supplement face-to-face experiences in K-12 schools, as well as a discussion of new tools currently in development.

Dr. Casey Myers - Early Childhood Education

During this session, Dr. Myers discusses the ECED 20102: Social Studies and The Arts in Preschool course and how the program coequally integrates content so that pre-service teachers learn how to teach children in a holistic way. She gives an example of one of the units we explore in class that combines children's learning in the area of civics and material expression with tools. Approaching teaching from this angle not only builds children's social and expressive capacities, but also allows teachers to explore notions of children's rights and participation, as well as practice effective communication and organizational skills.

Dr. Angela Ridgel - Exercise Science

Dr. Ridgel’s research focuses on how exercise-based rehabilitation can be used to change how the brain works, specifically in individuals with neurological disorders.  In this session, she talks about the benefits of exercise on the brain and discusses how students can be involved in this research.

Dr. Laurie Wagner - Health Education & Promotion

In this session, Dr. Wagner talks about the Health Education & Promotion program at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
