My appreciation for higher education was kindled before I was born. My father was a first-generation student, while my mother’s education marked the third generation of her family to earn a college degree. Through the influences of my family and of my own ambitions, lifelong learning remains one of my strongest priorities.
My pathway in higher education has always pressed forward in discovery of self and of the world. As a prospective undergraduate student, I had interest in the sciences, engineering, and education; though, I began my freshman year as a music student. As I engaged myself in the college experience, the social sciences won my heart and my mind.
My life is enriched because of higher education. My passion for people and for education make academic advising the right career for me. I enjoy dialoguing with all students about student success, challenging, affirming, and encouraging each toward realistic goals and effective actions.
