Forum to Examine Free Speech on Campus to Be Held March 23
By Carly Evans
Kent State University will host Free Speech in the Information Age, a panel discussion for faculty, staff and students, from 3-5 p.m. on March 23 in the Kent Student Center Kiva.
The forum will focus on issues surrounding free speech on university campuses, including protections and limits to free speech on campus, the request to remove the Golda Meir quote and photo from Bowman Hall and protecting students in an era of online incivility and internet trolling.
Panelists will include Todd Diacon, senior vice president for academic affairs and provost; Amy Reynolds, dean of the College of Communication and Information; and Mark Goodman, professor and Knight Chair in Scholastic Journalism. Amoaba Gooden, chair of the Department of Pan-African Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences, will moderate.
Following the panel discussion, audience members will have an opportunity to ask questions of the panelists.
