Kent State’s Downtown Gallery Presents Material Connection: New Work by Members of the Midwest Fiber Art Educators Network
The Kent State University School of Art Collection and Galleries’ Downtown Gallery presents Material Connection: New Work by Members of the Midwest Fiber Art Educators Network (MFAEN), from Nov. 10-Dec. 3. There will be an opening reception on Saturday, Nov. 12, from 5-7 p.m. Both the exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.
The Midwest Fiber Art Educators Network is a professional organization open to all faculty members and professionals teaching at an accredited four-year or graduate program in textiles, fibers and material studies under the rubric of studio art. The group meets annually to discuss issues relevant to personal research efforts and pedagogy, as well as to provide a forum to maintain vitality, criticality and visibility for the field.
The organization’s sixth annual meeting will be held at Kent State from Nov. 11-13.
The Downtown Gallery is located at 141 E. Main St. in Kent. Gallery hours are Monday through Wednesday, 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m.; Thursday, 9:30 a.m.-8 p.m.; Friday, 9:30 a.m.-7 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; and Sunday, noon-5 p.m.
