Kent State’s Wick Poetry Center Presents 15th Annual Giving Voice on May 5
By Taylor Meade
Kent State University’s Wick Poetry Center will host the 15th Annual Giving Voice on May 5 at 6:30 p.m.
The event features students from local schools in grades 3 through 12, Kent State undergraduate students and a visiting scholar from Egypt performing original poetry. Giving Voice will take place in the Kent Student Center Ballroom. The event is free and open to the public.
“Our 15th Annual Giving Voice performance will celebrate young poets from the community, and provide the audience with an opportunity to laugh, cry and learn from the young poets,” says Nicole Robinson, assistant director of the Wick Poetry Center.
Students who are presenting their work developed their material through the Wick Poetry Center outreach programs, including workshops led by Kent State undergraduate students enrolled in the service-learning course Teaching Poetry in the Schools.
