Kent State Trumbull Theatre Presents "Journey to Ohio"
Celebrating its 40th year, Kent Trumbull Theatre/Summer Stock presents Journey to Ohio. The play traces Margaret VanHorn Dwight’s pilgrimage from Connecticut to Warren, Ohio, in 1810. The production preserves and shares collective history in Northeast Ohio through the words and thoughts of one of Warren’s earliest settlers.
Jim Canacci, Kent State University at Trumbull English professor, wrote the play over the last several years with help from the Trumbull Historical Society.
“It is a radically different time period,” Canacci said. “However, the stuff that people worried about then are the same things people worry about now. They had conversations about the president, what they were going to eat or who they were going to marry.”
The show runs June 23-25 in Kent State Trumbull’s Auditorium. Friday and Saturday shows begin at 8 p.m., and the Sunday show begins at 3 p.m. For tickets or more information, call 330-675-8887 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
