Kent State Tuscarawas to Unveil the 2016-17 Performing Arts Center Season on May 20

An exciting lineup of 21 shows will be announced at the May 20, unveiling of the 2016-17 season of the Performing Arts Center at Kent State University at Tuscarawas. The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. with a wine-tasting featuring local wineries. The formal unveiling begins at 6:30 p.m. The event is open to Performing Arts Center members.

“It was my intention to plan a diverse season – a season with shows that could appeal to everyone,” says David Mitchell, general manager of the Performing Arts Center. “There will be a great mix of Broadway shows, comedy, family shows, music from the '50s, '60s, '70s and beyond, as well as country, rock, doo-wop, jazz, blues and a cappella.”

The 2016-17 season will be the seventh year of programming for the Performing Arts Center and the second year to offer the unveiling to members only.

“Member support is vital to the sustainability of the Performing Arts Center, and this is a way for us to say thank you to them,” Mitchell adds. “The unveiling is a members-only event, so I encourage everyone to become a member today. In addition to the unveiling, Performing Arts Center members are able to purchase tickets prior to the general public during special pre-sale periods. Members at the Dean’s Circle and Sustaining Patron levels have the exclusive option to have seats held for their purchase. While Performing Arts Center memberships are available all year, the deadline to purchase memberships with the benefit of attending the May 20 unveiling is May 6.”

There are five membership levels ranging from $30 to $1,500 with each offering various benefits. The levels have been developed to accommodate affordability: Students, Friends, Sustaining Patrons, Dean’s Circle and Corporate Partners. A portion of every membership is a donation to the Performing Arts Center Endowment, which may be tax-deductible.

Performing Arts Center members will be able to purchase tickets to the 2016-17 season from May 20 to June 5. Pre-sale packages, four shows or more, can be purchased June 6-12. Single-show ticket sales begin June 13.

Student memberships include exclusive free-ticket giveaways and two $10 balcony section tickets to each Performing Arts Center series event. There are a limited number of these tickets available for each show.

Benefits at the Friend level include advance notice of new events, exclusive event presales and a listing on the Performing Arts Center membership Web page.
