Downtown Kent

The annual Main Street Kent Oktoberfest is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 22, from noon-10 p.m. The event will take place on Franklin Avenue and W. Erie Street in downtown Kent. Local eateries will be set up on the street, selling specially prepared German foods. Vendors will include Erie Street Kitchen, Burnside Barbecue, Brimfield Bread Oven, Ray’s Place, Grazers, Scratch, Treno and Kent Cheesemonger. Popped! will also be serving up beer-roasted nuts and other tasty fall treats for the event. Be prepared to make some tough choices – there will be brats, pierogies, schnitzel, pretzels, sauerkraut and plenty of seasonal beverages on hand.

Two beer trucks, featuring the popular Spaten Oktoberfest, several seasonal beers and cider, will be situated on Franklin Avenue and Erie Street. The Main Street Kent ticket booth will be located near Ray’s Place, where attendees can purchase commemorative Oktoberfest beer mugs for $10. Event-goers can purchase a 16-ounce mug with one beer ticket. Additional beer tickets will be sold for $5 each. There also will be a limited quantity of special edition one-liter beer mugs available for $25, including two beer tickets. All are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Sponsors for this year’s Kent Oktoberfest include Spaten Oktoberfest, Acorn Alley, College Town Kent and Portage Community Bank. Their generosity and support of Main Street Kent make this fun, popular event possible.
