Three Communication Professionals to Be Honored at School of Communication Studies’ Centennial Award Celebration

Kent State University’s School of Communication Studies will honor three outstanding alumni for their commitment and contribution to the field of communication studies. Faculty, staff, students, alumni and guests are invited to attend the free celebration on Friday, Sept. 30, as part of Kent State’s 2016 Homecoming.

The individuals who will be recognized at the celebration include:

  • Elizabeth M. Perse, Ph.D., '87, is this year’s recipient of the Centennial Award, the school’s highest honor. This award honors an individual associated with the school who is nationally or internationally recognized for contributions to his or her profession that relates to the field of communication.
  • Michael R. Lisman, '76, is this year’s recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award, which honors a graduate from the School of Communication Studies with more than 15 years of professional experience who has made significant contributions to the field of communication and demonstrated success in his or her chosen career.
  • Megan E. Vogias, '06, is this year’s recipient of the Outstanding Young Professional Award, which honors a graduate from the School of Communication Studies with five to 15 years of professional experience who has demonstrated success in his or her chosen career.

In addition to recognizing the three alumni award recipients, the Dominic Infante Communication Scholarship will be awarded to Daniel Socha, a second year Master of Arts student in the School of Communication Studies. This award is granted to a recipient who will likely matriculate into the Ph.D. program. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to meet Elizabeth Graham, Ph.D., the school's new director and past recipient of the 2010 Distinguished Alumni Award.

The deadline to RSVP for the Centennial Award Celebration is Friday, Sept. 16. The event will be hosted in the Moulton Hall Ballroom on the Kent Campus and is free of charge.
