Lae'l Hughes-Watkins, University Libraries, Department of Special Collections and Archives, presented “Project STAND: A Collaborative Initiative to Highlight Acts of Social Justice Thru Archives” at the Academic Library Association of Ohio (ALAO) in Columbus, Ohio, on Oct. 27, 2017.
Summary: The presentation included an introduction to Project STAND (STudent Activism Now Documented), a collaborative effort with various universities across the country, to create an online clearinghouse where academic institutions can provide researchers access to historical and archival documentation on the development and ongoing occurrences of student dissent. STAND will focus on historically marginalized communities (e.g. African American, Latinx, LGBTQ, religious minorities, disabled, etc.).
