Mason Lee Branham
Residence Hall Director
Department of Residence Services - Residential Communities
As a residence hall director, I provide leadership to the resident assistants (RAs) of Stopher and Johnson halls. I also assist Kent State students in matters related to academic support, crisis intervention, referral, programming and personal development.
WORKED AT KENT STATE SINCE:
EMPLOYMENT PRIOR TO KENT STATE UNIVERSITY:
Graduate Assistant in Preston Residential College at the University of South Carolina
LIKES MOST ABOUT KENT STATE UNIVERSITY:
I most admire Kent State’s passion for diversity and inclusion. I appreciate that Kent State is willing to facilitate those “uncomfortable conversations” in the pursuit of equity for everyone.
ATTRACTION TO KENT STATE UNIVERSITY AS AN EMPLOYER:
The kindness of the Residence Services staff attracted me to Kent State. I never envisioned myself moving to Ohio, but I felt at ease during my interview here because the staff was utterly welcoming. I instantly wanted to be a part of their work.
One of the greatest aspects of my job is I get to live where I work! I live among my residents and staff in Stopher Hall.
Columbia, South Carolina
B.A. in Theatre and Experimental Psychology, University of South Carolina; M.Ed. in Educational Psychology and Research, University of South Carolina
I enjoy long walks on the beach and short walks to the fridge. I enjoy traveling to new places. Above all else, I enjoy meeting and connecting with new people.
