Professor and Associate Dean for Graduate Programs
College of Nursing
I provide leadership for the graduate curriculum in the College of Nursing, work with faculty to maintain integrity and currency of the M.S.N., D.N.P., and Ph.D. programs, and promote excellence in graduate student and faculty outcomes. I oversee graduate student recruitment, enrollment, retention and progression in the College of Nursing. I also have the opportunity to chair Ph.D. dissertation and D.N.P. project committees, represent the College of Nursing on the Institutional Review Board, engage in research and implement several large training grants.
WORKED AT KENT STATE SINCE:
EMPLOYMENT PRIOR TO KENT STATE UNIVERSITY:
Clinical positions as a psychiatric mental health advanced practice registered nurse since 1986.
LIKES MOST ABOUT KENT STATE UNIVERSITY:
Kent State is my alma mater, and I like almost everything about this university. I especially enjoy our diverse student body, beautiful campus and relationships with colleagues throughout the university. I’m also a fervent supporter of nursing.
ATTRACTION TO KENT STATE UNIVERSITY AS AN EMPLOYER:
I was born and raised in Northeast Ohio. Kent State has a great reputation as being a fair employer and a place where faculty are happy and satisfied with their jobs.

I love to travel to Charleston, South Carolina, where my daughter is a high school math teacher. My husband and I are “homebodies,” but we do enjoy walking and hiking a lot. I also love to swim at the nearby YMCA.
