This document is the approved Faculty Handbook for the School of Library and Information Science (including LIS and IAKM faculty), one of four schools within the College of Communication and Information. This Handbook supplements official university policies and procedures as expressed in the Kent State University Policy Register (UR), the tenured/tenure-track Collective Bargaining Agreement, effective August 16, 2012 (CBA), and the full-time non-tenure-track Collective Bargaining Agreement, effective August 23, 2013 (NTT CBA). The CBAs are available online at http://dept.kent.edu/aaup. The Policy Register is available online at http://www1.kent.edu/policyreg/.
Alterations or amendments to this Faculty Handbook may be requested by the Faculty Advisory Committee (FAC) of the School of Library and Information Science or by the Director of the School of Library and Information Science in order to reflect changes in School, College or University policies. Proposed changes to this Faculty Handbook are subject to the approval of the Faculty Advisory Committee, the Director of the School of Library and Information Science, and to the final approval of the Dean of the College of Communication and Information (See CBA, Article VI, Section 7).
It is each full-time faculty member’s responsibility to become familiar with the policies and procedures of this Handbook, the University Policies, and the respective T/TT and NTT Collective Bargaining Agreements. All faculty members are required also to become familiar with the SLIS Student Handbook for student-related matters.
