Shanti Amalanathan (she/her/hers) is an adjunct instructor at Kent State University's New York CIty campus and the Laboratory Institute of Merchandising. She teaches various subjects in the fashion industry including Consumer Behavior, Fashion Marketing and Seminar in Fashion Merchandising.
Shanti is a native New Yorker with a background in luxury retail. She worked at Hermes for 15 years. Her diverse range of experiences include logistics and operations, merchandising, buying, planning, and retail management, with a specialization in perfumes. Shanti is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Iowa State University. She is an alumna of Bernard M. Baruch College with a Bachelor of Business Administration and received her Master of Professional Studies in Global Fashion Management at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
Shanti aspires for students to gain a comprehensive understanding of the fashion industry within a dynamically evolving environment. When she's not working, she enjoys travelling, photography, hiking, and yoga.
