During the event held on Feb. 11, several Fashion School students from both the Kent State University campus and the School’s NYC Studio location had the opportunity to present their design for a modern day, Cinderella-inspired look. Using Cinderella’s gown from Disney’s new live-action film as inspiration, students sketched their designs live in front of esteemed fashion industry guests. Guest judges included Katie Holmes, Nina Garcia, Charlotte Ronson and Geoffrey Henning.
The winning student was Jay Lewis, who will receive a $5000 scholarship and have his design and sketch displayed in JCPenney’s Manhattan Mall store window. The window will also display the sketches of every Kent State student who participated. The event took place at New York City’s Palace Hotel, the perfect backdrop to create a Cinderella look for today’s modern woman.
