Kent State Fashion School/Reutlingen University Program

SPRING 2019 and 2020

Every spring term, up to five junior fashion design and merchandising students are selected to study in one of the world’s leading economies and gain valuable insight into one of the most sophisticated and highly developed fashion industries through an exchange program with Reutlingen University.  Open to all fashion students of any level who are in good academic standing.

Why Study in Germany?

Through the Kent State Fashion/Reutlingen University program, students gain an important understanding of the role textiles play in many global industries. The Textiles and Design program at Reutlingen offers courses in International Fashion Retail, Textile Design/Fashion Design, Textile Technology-Textile Management and Transportation Interior Design. Students will gain practical industry knowledge in an international setting while working with Reutlingen faculty who are experienced with Germany’s leading textile companies. Reutlingen’s facilities are home to cutting-edge technical equipment and machinery providing students with an invaluable hands-on learning experience.

ELIGIBILITY

Upon application to the program, students must be enrolled in 30000- and/or 40000- level fashion design and merchandising courses. Participants must have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA upon application with a 3.0 GPA preferred. 

PROGRAM COSTS AND FEES

Tuition rates are determined by a student's in-state or out-of-state-status. Please refer to the Kent State tuition and fees schedule on the KSU Bursar's webpage.

Course Offerings

Courses apply to fashion design and merchandising degree requirements. Classes are in English and all Reutlingen Exchange program participants must maintain full-time enrollment.

Housing

Students can reside in one of Reutlingen University’s residence halls. All rooms are fully furnished and utilities are included in the rent. To reside in one of Reutlingen University's residence halls, students must submit a separate online application. Submit applications for the spring 2019 program by Sept. 30, 2018, and Sept. 1, 2019, for the spring 2020 program.
