Design Students Take Home Top Prizes in Kent State's "Rock the Runway"
Current Kent Fashion School design students Wuede Tadesse and Grace McLain both won awards during the annual Kent State University Rock the Runway free fashion show on March 3, 2019. The event was hosted by the Center for Student Involvement and featured collections from 10 student designers.
This year's theme was "Woodstock" and featured inspired fashions loaded of flowers, fringe, fur and psychedelic colors, transforming the student center and audience back to the '60s.
Tadesse, a senior fashion design major walked away as the top winner of the competition for her collection, "Spark of Beauty" which featured bold tribal patterns and bright red fabrics. Tadesse was awarded a $1,500 travel voucher to a destination of her choice.
Sophomore design major, Grace McLain, took home the audience favorite award for her brightly colored “Jive Wise” collection and won a $500 gift card to the designer fabric store, Mood Fabrics.
