‘Fashion Meets the Botanicals Exhibit’ on Display at Cleveland Botanical Garden as part of ‘Orchid Mania’
For the seventh year in a row, orchid-inspired designs from a group of talented junior design students from Kent State University’s School of Fashion Design and Merchandising, are featured in the “Fashion Meets the Botanicals” exhibition at the Cleveland Botanical Garden. The exhibit is shown in the incomparable surroundings of the Garden and brings together a botanically-inspired fabric and fashion arrangement that coincides with the Garden's "Orchid Mania" event.
Every year, students involved in this competition use an image of an orchid to create a computer-generated design from custom fabric, utilize the School's TechStyleLAB fabric printer to produce the fabric and then design and construct a garment using the fabric.
"Orchid Mania" is on display now in the Garden and will run through Sunday, March 1, 2020. Attendees can vote in person for the top designs in the categories of "Best Use of Inspiration,""Best Fabric Design" and "Best in Show.”
The Cleveland Botanical Garden is open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm, Wednesday from 10 am to 9 pm, Sunday from noon to 5 pm and closed on Monday. Admission to the Garden is $15 for adults, $10 for children ages three to 12, and free for Garden members and children under two.
