The Fashion School’s Study Away Program to be ‘Featured Fund’ During the University’s Giving Tuesday Initiative starting on Nov. 1!

The fashion industry is a global business, and a well-rounded understanding of international markets, trends and cultural insights is essential for students who want to excel in the industry. For this reason, all Kent fashion majors must complete a study away trip away from the Kent campus before graduation. Our School is one of the first fashion institutions in the country to include a required study abroad experience as part of their curriculum. Now more than ever, it is vital to the education of all students to experience culture, economics and business outside of the boundaries of their campus. Starting Nov. 1, The Fashion Study Away Program will be a featured Giving Tuesday fund, and will kick-off giving season as the school aims to raise $25,000 to provide scholarships to hardworking students and helping to ease the financial burden that it costs to study abroad.

Giving Tuesday has been firmly established as the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, falling after Black Friday, Shop Local Saturday and Cyber Monday. Today, Giving Tuesday is nationally recognized to be the official start of the season of giving, and since 2014, Giving Tuesday has become the most generous annual tradition at Kent State, raising nearly $3 million since then. The University’s Giving Tuesday Initiative starts Nov. 1 and runs through Dec. 3, 2029 (actual Giving Tuesday).

While all donations are appreciated, it is important to note that donations do not count towards Giving Tuesday and are not eligible for boosts and matches until Nov. 1 at 12 a.m. EST, running through Dec. 3 at 11:59 p.m. EST. Make sure to follow us Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for updates. There will be fun incentives and participation boosts throughout the month which will be shared on our social media pages. The Fashion School would like to sincerely thank all of their donors for the support and continued investment into the global education of the fashion students.
