Kent State's Fashion School Receives Top Badges of Excellence in New Business of Fashion International Report
The world-renowned fashion publication The Business of Fashion recently named Kent State University's School of Fashion Design and Merchandising as one of the best fashion schools in the world for 2019.
After taking a pause in 2018 to reevaluate their approach to fashion school rankings, The Business of Fashion decided to take a new approach in 2019, adopting a new methodology to calculate the top fashion institutions in the world. This year, it gathered a committee of 12 notable global fashion experts and collected data from dozens of fashion educators and students around the world to complete the assessment of the Best Fashion Schools in the World 2019.
In a change from previous years, The Business of Fashion no longer gives numerical rankings for schools but instead honors institutions with Badges of Excellence to recognize a school’s strength in four key areas: Best Overall, Best in Global Influence, Best in Learning Experience and Best in Long-Term Value. The top-performing programs in each category were awarded a Badge of Excellence for that particular section and were shortlisted for inclusion in its list.
In the undergraduate fashion design category, Kent State's Fashion School was one of 37 schools in 14 countries honored with distinction and received badges in three categories: Best Overall, Best in Learning Experience and Best in Long-Term Value.
In the undergraduate fashion business and management category, the school’s fashion merchandising discipline was honored with badges in all four categories: Best Overall, Best in Global Influence, Best in Learning Experience and Best in Long-Term Value. The school’s merchandising degree was one of only 15 schools in four countries chosen to receive the distinction, and it was one of only three institutions in the world to receive all four badges of honor.
In addition to the Business of Fashion honors, the school was most recently rated No. 15 in the world internationally and No. 5 in the nation by the fashion news site Fashionista in its 2018 rankings report, adding to the large list of international notoriety the school has received.
