Kent State Fashion's NYC Studio Launches Summer Fashion Academy Program

The Kent State University Fashion School’s NYC Studio is pleased to announce its new Summer Fashion Academy at the school’s New York City location in the heart of the Garment District.

Joining the school's successful annual week-long Summer Fashion Academy on the main Kent campus, this new program aims to get New York area-based high schoolers closer to their futures in fashion design, product development, buying/merchandising, entrepreneurship, styling, media, promotion and more.

The NYC Summer Fashion Academy (NYC SFA) will include study tour classes, taking participants to leading fashion companies, museums and markets, and the academy’s “lunch and learns” will pair students with top industry professionals and alumni.

The program will run for 16 days, beginning Monday, July 8, and running through Thursday, August 1. Classes will meet daily from 9:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday – Thursday only. There is no overnight program and students are responsible for daily travel to and from the program’s campus. Students will participate in lectures, discussions, design studio work, field trips, lunch and learns, digital learning communications and small group mentoring. The curriculum will encourage students to CREATE, DEVELOP and EXPERIENCE the New York City fashion industry.

High school students between 16 – 18 years of age are eligible to apply. The fee to attend is $1,799 and includes program registration, a daily lunch, study tour transportation, museum admission, key design studio materials and project supplies.

Registration for the program is now open and will close on Friday, June 1. To begin your application for the NYC Summer Fashion Academy, please fill out this interest form.
