Sara has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fashion Design and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Textiles from Kent State University. After finishing school she spent several years working in New York as a knitwear designer for three of Anne Klein’s labels: AKNY Designer, AK Better and AKNY as well as Jones New York. While there she gained experience in all aspects of design from sketching, print development, garment production & showroom presentation.
After returning to Ohio in 2009 she began teaching classes at Kent State. Sara has taught a variety of classes on all levels in basic visual design principles, beginning illustration, technical design, portfolio development and Illustrator & Photoshop for fashion design. Sara has enjoyed working with students to expand their knowledge of the industry and grow as designers.
Outside of Kent, Sara is also working with a Tremont-based boutique to develop a small line of clothing that will be sold there in the summer. She continues to be interested in the future of integrating technology and fashion especially within digital printing and illustration.
