WE THE PEOPLE - PORTRAITS OF REFUGEES,  A Project by Erin LaBelle & the KSU Global Understanding Research Initiative

The Exhibition runs from September 6 - 30, 2019.   Walk along the Kent State University Lester A. Lefton Esplanade between Haymaker and South Lincoln Streets and meet your neighbors. Browse through these photos and bios of refugees living in NE Ohio, and then come to the KIVA in the Kent Student Center to  watch excerpts from documentary film, HUMAN FLOW,  by Chinese activist and artist, Ai Weiwei.   

After the film participate in questions and reactions from our distinguished panel:

  • Dr. Francoise  Massadrdier Kenney,  Professor, Kent State University,  Co-Director of the Global Understanding Research Initiative
  • Dr. Abdi Shaeye, Assistant Professor of Economics and Co-PI for Economic Impact Study of Somali Immigrants in Franklin County, OH
  • Kevin Walter, Advocacy Coordinator and Eka Peace, Translator, International Institute of Akron.
