Kent Library-Basement
Room 019

The “Improving Your Online Course” workshop explores the QM Rubric and provides a framework to improve the quality of online courses. Participants use the QM Rubric to review their own online courses and develop a course improvement plan. The content is based on the 21 essential Specific Review Standards of the Quality Matters Rubric. Participants come away with a plan for course improvement so enrolling in the workshop with a pre-developed online course is required.

This workshop is specifically for faculty who currently have an online or hybrid course that they are teaching or are scheduled to teach in an upcoming semester. This is a hands-on session where participants will partner up with one another to provide feedback on each other’s course from the student perspective, and also engage in activities that allow faculty to self-review aspects of their own course. The IYOC may also be appropriate for instructional designers who are helping to revise an existing course.

Learning Objectives

  1. Recognize the foundational concepts of Quality Matters.
  2. Apply the essential Standards of the Quality Matters Rubric to your own online course.
  3. Describe the alignment of at least one module/unit in your online course.
  4. Prioritize improvements to your online course.

You must have an existing online or hybrid course that you are able & approved to revise, or be an Instructional Designer working with a faculty on a course that they are revising.
