Artist Statement:
The goal of this series is to explore my relationship with myself and my understanding of womanhood through the recognition of strength within others. As a girl, I held very few female friendships; as an adult, the role they play in my life is monumental. These portraits capture strong and influential women who have woven in and out of my life over the course of the last few years. Bringing these individuals, familiar and some unfamiliar, into my home studio allowed me to build new connections and deepen existing ones. This body of work is a collection of portraits that symbolizes the beauty within each of us. The photographs represent femininity at its core by capturing uninhibited emotion and conveying strength through the power of connection.
