Kent State National Ceramics Invitational 2020
The School of Art Collection and Galleries at Kent State University presents “Kent State National Ceramics Invitational” from March 6 – April 11, 2020 at the KSU Downtown Gallery. The exhibition was curated by Peter Pincus and includes artists Sanam Emami, Hannah Thompsett, Adam Posnak, and Brooks Oliver. An opening reception will be held on Friday, March 6 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Both the exhibition and reception are free and open to the public. The KSU Downtown Gallery is located at 141 East Main Street in Kent.
In a curator’s statement, Pincus stated, “My goal as curator is to promote four phenomenal potters who, in my judgment, are underrepresented in the current conversation. Each potter has been selected for their ability to be articulate, direct, and subtle, and also to represent a facet of the field as it exists at this moment in time. I admire these individuals personally and professionally, and see them as a collective image of the greatest work being done today.”
This marks the fourth year for this exhibition in which ceramics artists from around the country are invited to show their work at Kent State. This year’s exhibition brings a dynamic array of artists from Fort Collins, Colorado (Sanam Emami); Alfred, New York (Hannah Thompsett); Fayetteville, Arkansas (Adam Posnak); and Dallas, Texas (Brooks Oliver), creating a compelling and contemporary example of innovative creations using ceramic material.
The KSU Downtown Gallery is located at 141 E. Main St. in Kent, Ohio.
Gallery Hours: Mon - Fri. 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., Sat. 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Closed Sunday.
