Miwa Neishi | School of Art Collection and Galleries | Kent State University
Off Campus - Downtown Gallery

Join us for the opening of Miwa Neishi, a solo exhibition of her current work on Thursday, July 6 from 5-7 p.m. Abstract paintings, drawings, and ceramics created by the School of Art alumna will be on view from July 3 - 29, 2017 at the Downtown Gallery. Both the reception and the show are free and open to the public.

From Neishi's artist statement:
"I mainly use painting to construct abstract forms. I build these forms by imagining elemental bodies, such as clouds or cubes with varieties of texture; thick and thin which intuitively interact with layered surfaces. I imagine as if the forms and shapes describe the subconscious reflecting continuously changing over time throughout the way of living in the natural and social environment and human culture; it sometimes brings Japanese writing, parts of bodies, simple shapes into view - round or square, or everyday materials, and even 'invisible' light or the aperture."
