Mobility, Migration, and Movement: Contemporary Diasporas on Displacement

Join us for a special Martin Luther King, Jr. Day event in conjunction with the exhibition The View From Here: Contemporary Perspectives From Senegal. This panel discussion titled “Mobility, Migration, and Movement: Contemporary Diasporas on Displacement” features Talise A. Campbell (Djapo Cultural Arts Institute), Sylvie Coulibaly (Kenyon College), Lindsey Phillips (World Relief in Akron), and Joseph Underwood (Kent State University). It will be moderated by Kent State alumna, Abby Hermosilla (School of the Art Institute of Chicago).
The discussion will take place at the CVA Gallery, located on the first floor of the Center for the Visual Arts, from 1-3 p.m. This event is free and open to everyone. Free parking is available for this event behind the building in the R19 lot.
The exhibition will be on view at the CVA Gallery at the Center for the Visual Arts at Kent State University from January 17 through February 22, 2019. The opening reception will take place on Friday, January 25 from 5-7 p.m. Programming and activities will take place throughout the exhibition at Kent State and off campus.
