Stratosphere 2019

You are invited to the Kent State College of the Arts annual University-wide juried art show, "Stratosphere." A group art exhibition of work of 20 finalists will be on display at the School of Art's Downtown Gallery (141 East Main Street) with an opening reception on Thursday, April 18 from 5-7 p.m. The show will be on view through May 3, 2019.  The theme this year was "Global Identity."

Awards and cash prizes will be given for Best in Show ($1,000); First Runner Up ($500); and Second Runner Up ($250). A People's Choice Award ($500) will also be awarded to the finalist whose work garners the most votes at the gallery. Voting will take place from 4-6 p.m. on April 18 before and during the reception.

This year's juror is Michelle Grabner. She will give an artist talk on Friday, April 19 at 12 p.m. entitled: "The Work I Do."  This free talk will take place in room 165 at the Center for the Visual Arts (325 Terrace Drive) and is open to the public.  Wisconsin-born, Michelle Grabner works in variety of mediums including drawing, painting, video and sculpture. Incorporating writing, curating and teaching with a studio practice grounded in process and productivity she has created a multi-faceted and dynamic career.
