GEL Breakfast -Maria Dellapina; Purpose and Passion Drove Innovative and Vision

Clark Commons

Specs4Us was founded in 2004, by Maria Dellapina, a single mother of four that included her youngest daughter Erin who was diagnosed with Down syndrome at birth. After years of frustration searching for an eyeglass frame that would fit Erin properly, Maria, with 30 years experience in the optical field, decided to combine her passion as a mother, with her knowledge of eyeglasses to form Specs4Us.

Join us for the April 7th G.E.L. Breakfast to learn about the journey that earned Maria the "2013 Exceptional Meritorious Service Award" which is presented by the Nation Down Syndrome Congress "for improving lives through the development of specialized eyeglasses for individuals with Down syndrome." She also received Toyota's 2015 Mother of Invention Award and is the the recipient of the Best Company for Innovation by SCORE in Washington DC.

Joining Maria will be Jon Slaybaugh and Dick Coyne, her SCORE mentors who began and conduct their mentoring program out of Kent State Geauga.
