Pianist Daniela Costa has achieved widespread acclaim for her natural and insightful performances as an accomplished Lieder accompanist, chamber musician, lecturer, musicologist, Italian Diction coach, and professor of Italian opera at several prestigious American Universities. She is currently the professor of Italian Opera at Kent State University Florence. She has taught, lectured, and performed at the Florence Center of California State University, Richmond University, Gonzaga University, Smith College, Georgetown University, Syracuse University, Sarah Lawrence College, the Smithsonian Institute, Middlebury College, Northwestern University, The School of Music of Fiesole, The Conservatorio Cherubini in Firenze, and the University of Siena. Since its first rendition in 2009, she has been regularly invited by Lorin Maazel to his Castleton Festival in Virginia, as the coach of Italian Diction for the production of Italian Operas conducted by Maazel, himself, and as the professor of Italian Art-Songs and language for the CATS (Castleton Artist Training program).
