- At this time, all Summer 2020 and Fall 2020 programs have been canceled.
Which resources does KENT STATE utilize to make decisions regarding whether or not education abroad programs should be canceled?
- Kent State follows the guidance set forth by the United States Department of State and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as local and state officials, to make informed decisions. When making decisions about specific education abroad programs, the university also considers local conditions and input from peer institutions in the host country. We encourage all study abroad students who are U.S. citizens to register with the U.S. Department of State’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP); more information can be found at https://step.state.gov/. If you are studying abroad but are not a U.S. citizen, we encourage you to consult with your home country’s government for a similar program.
Does the GeoBlue International Health Insurance provided for my education abroad program cover any COVID-19 related expenses or testing while i am abroad?

my summer 2020 or fall 2020 program has been canceled. May I change my semester of study abroad to a future term?
We highly encourage you to explore the possibility of studying abroad in a future semester. Work with your Education Abroad advisor, Financial Aid counselor, and academic advisor to determine what your options may be.
What is the current status of university travel restrictions?

I am a student who signed up for the KENT STATE Florence fall 2020 program and I signed up for the group flight. will I be responsible for paying any cancellation fees?
No. If the program is officially canceled by the University, students are not responsible for and would be reimbursed for any fees paid directly to the University, including the group flight fees.
my fall 2020 education abroad program has been canceled. What should i do now?
We recommend that you contact your academic advisor right away so that you can work with them to register for Fall 2020 courses at Kent State. Also, work with your Education Abroad advisor and your Financial Aid counselor for any additional adjustments that may need to be made and to find out how to study abroad in a future term.
my fall 2020 education abroad program has been canceled. can I still apply for on-campus housing?

Work with your Education Abroad advisor, Financial Aid counselor, and academic advisor to determine what your options may be.
my Fall 2020 education abroad program has been canceled. will I be refunded for any fees already paid?
For students who are committed to their education abroad program at the time of program cancellation, the OGE application fee and any program fees collected by the Office of Global Education will be refunded if the program is officially canceled by the university. To determine your commitment status, please refer to your online OGE application or email your Education Abroad advisor.
For any fees collected by the school/department, the student will need to reach out to the school/department directly to see if those fees will be refunded.
For any fees paid directly to the host university, the student will need to contact the host university directly to determine the possibility of a refund.
