Cultural Cafe: Bolivia and Rwanda

Students, faculty, and staff are invited to the informal and FREE Cultural Cafe that seeks to educate and familiarize them about the countries and cultures present within the KSU community. During each Cultural Cafe, presenters from different cultures give a short presentation, which includes photographs and features information about traditions and culture, government, history, geography, and food. In addition, the presenting students often include demonstrations of traditional songs or dances while actively encouraging audience participation.

International Cook-Off 2022

OGE’s signature event, the International Cook-Off Competition, is moving from International Education Week to I Heart Travel Week this year. Hosted by the Office of Global Education and supported by Kent State Dining Services, the Cook-Off will feature food and beverages from around the world. The event is free but pre-registration is required, and space will be limited. Registration begins on Friday, February 4th, at 12:00PM. Register HERE.

The Cook-Off will feature four student culinary teams, who will compete as finalists in the competition. The four teams are: Brazil, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, and a combined team representing the countries of the Middle East and North Africa. Each team will prepare and present a different cultural entrée from their home country or region. The teams will compete for first-, second- and third-place awards, which will be determined by a team of judges. In addition, the Cook-Off’s attendees will have the chance to vote for their favorite team and recipe for the People’s Choice Award. The announcements of the first, second and third place, as well as the People's Choice winners, will occur at approximately 7:45 p.m.

Take part in an exclusive opportunity to prepare authentic Italian small plates under Kent State Hospitality Management Professor and Italian cuisine specialist Chef Anthony Hamilton in the newly opened Design Innovation Hub's Teaching Kitchen.

For this intimate event, you and your guest will prepare small plates from 6:00PM - 8:00PM while enjoying Italian wine. All food will then be plated and served at the post-lesson reception for all participants to enjoy. Please note that food cannot be eaten while it is being prepared in the kitchen.
