Academics
The exchange program with Hiroshima Shudo University is designed for students to practice Japanese language skills and to learn more about Japanese culture, history, and society. While students from any major may participate in this program, preference is first given to those who are pursuing the Japanese minor.
Course offerings may include the following:
- Japanese Language (mandatory)
- Popular Music in Japanese Society
- Japanese Culture in Hospitality and Service
- Contemporary Issues in Japanese Society
- Images of Japan in Western Cinema
- Multicultural Understanding
- ...and more!
Upon arrival at Hiroshima Shudo University, students will complete a placement exam to determine at which level of Japanese language they will study. The Japanese language courses are offered at three proficiency levels (elementary, intermediate, advanced) and are taught in Japanese. The elective courses are taught in English with a focus on international co-learning, where international students and Japanese students learn and work together on collaborative projects.
Living in Hiroshima
Students will live in the residence hall called the International House (i-House), which is apartment-style housing.
