Academia and Mental Health

The Black Graduate Student Association of Kent State University believes that this year’s theme of “Academia and Mental Health,” will be able to continue the work of the university by promoting mental health awareness. Thus, this year we seek the intellect of both undergraduates and graduates who have begun research on such a by opening our conference to a poster session. This is a great opportunity for you to showcase your work and receive feedback from scholars in a friendly and engaging environment.


 

POSTERS:

  • Abstract Deadline: 5:00PM, February 21st, 2020
  • Abstracts should be submitted online to bgsa@kent.edu.
  • Abstract word limit is 150 words.
  • Maximum Poster Size: 40x50 inches.
  • Will be hung on cork/poster boards.
  • In the rare case that the number of submitted abstracts exceeds our capacity, we will select abstracts based on relevance to mental health and wellness. 

​​ELIGIBILITY:

  • Participant must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program.
  • Participants may be a member of any discipline to apply.

​EVENT GUIDELINES / TIPS:

  • Please hang posters during the allotted time. If you are unable to do so, then please use one of the workshop times prior to presentation. 
  • ​We will provide thumb tacks for hanging. ​
  • We encourage you to stand at your poster throughout the entire poster session; however, since we are not judging posters, you are allowed to view other posters.​
  • Any posters that are not removed at the conclusion of the meeting will be thrown away. ​​​

POSTER SPECIFICATIONS:

  • A label at the top of your poster should indicate the title of your poster, authors, and author affiliations. 
  • The submitted abstract should be included in your poster.
    • Abstracts will not be printed for distribution at event. 
  • ​It is also advised to include a brief introduction as well as conclusions. ​
  • Illustrations and graphs should be legible from 2-3 feet away.
  • Fonts should be large enough to be legible from 4-5 feet away.
