Biography

I am an MA student with a BA in Classical Civilizations from Kent State University. During my undergraduate studies, I focused mainly on examining the treatment of women in ancient Greek culture and women’s roles in Christianity through the late Middle Ages. Currently, my research focuses on early modern women and how they participated in and impacted seafaring trades. My most recent project looks at women’s roles in the 18th century British Atlantic, their involvements on trade, naval, and pirate ships, and the social attitudes toward these women as seen primarily through literature and theatre. Outside of my studies, I enjoy drawing and writing short stories. I am also attempting to teach myself how to write music and play the guitar.
