Brenda Faverty
Biography
My first degree was a BS Business Administration from Clarion State University and was received in 1981. After spending about 16 years working in the trucking industry, I began to prepare for a change of careers by studying history. I received a MA History from Slippery Rock University in 2000 and PhD History from Kent State University in 2011.
My main historical interest and the focus of my research has been the antebellum South. I have been able to share this interest with Kent State students this year by teaching the classes Gender & Race in the Antebellum South and Women and the Civil War. Also, while at Kent State I have taught survey classes in American History and History of Civilization, as well as Ohio History, Jefferson to Jackson, and Historians' Craft.
