Cuban-American novelist and poet Cristina García will deliver a lecture titled “Reading Fiction in the Modern World” on Thursday, Oct. 9 at 7:00 p.m. in the KIVA as part of the Kent State University Guest of Honor University Artist/Lecture Series.

Recent Kent State University graduate Allison Moats has been named one of four 2014 Portz Scholars by the National Collegiate Honors Council. Moats graduated summa cum laude in May 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in anthropology and a minor in biology. She earned University Honors from the Honors College with distinction in anthropology. Moats is also a member of the Kent State University chapter

Brainchild, the art and literary magazine of the Mid-East Honors Association, launched its spring 2014 issue April 7. Brainchild is an annual literary and arts publication comprised of exceptional work completed by undergraduate honors students from across the Mid-East Honors region.    This is the magazine’s 2nd year in publication but its first year featuring a regional submission base.

Diana Al-Hadid, class of 2003, has been named the recipient of the 2014 Distinguished Honors Alumni Award. An internationally known sculptor, Diana Al-Hadid earned a B.A. in Art History and a B.F.A in Art from Kent State University in 2003. She graduated summa cum laude and earned graduation with honors for her thesis “Digital D@d@.”
