Honors College Magazine Wins Silver ADDY Award for Design
The 2015 edition of the Kent State Honors College literary and arts magazine, Brainchild, has been awarded Silver twice for its elegant but striking design by the American Advertising Federation.
The American Advertising Awards, or ADDY, are the advertising industry’s largest and most representative competition. Brainchild initially won silver for design in Akron but has since gone on to win silver for design in the regional competition. The regional ADDYs included competitors from Cleveland, Dayton, and West Virginia.
The designers for the 2015 edition of Brainchild included Kent State visual communication design students Rachel Kozy, Martha Arbogast and Emily Thomas.
When asked further about the specifics of the 2015 edition’s design, Kozy commented that they were aiming to create a design that was “simple” and “minimalistic” as well as “striking.” Kozy also stated that their designs were meant to enhance the art in the magazine, not compete with it.
Brainchild is being forwarded on to the national competition for its design.
