Conversation Partners Program off to fast start

On the evening of September 11, 2018, over 200 Kent State students converged on the lounges of Allyn and Clark Residence Halls for the Conversation Partners Program Kick-off Event. The Conversation Partners Program at Kent State University is a volunteer program that pairs international students with students from the United States. Once an international student and domestic student are paired, they meet once a week for one hour to have an informational conversation in English. The program not only helps international students develop English skills, it helps build cultural awareness as well as rewarding friendships between students.

During the Kick-off Event, international students had the opportunity to meet domestic students and pair-up as conversation partners. As conversation partners, both international and domestic students have the opportunity improve their language skills, learn about a different culture, make a new friend from a different country, share their culture, and expand their worldview. The Conversation Partners Program is one of many cultural programs sponsored by the Office of International Student Affairs.
