New Beginnings for Undergraduates Interested in Student Affairs

With the start of a new academic year, our Undergraduates Interested in Student Affairs (USA) student group is off to a fast start. USA is a group of undergraduate students within Residence Services who have expressed an interest in a future career working in Student Affairs on a college campus. Throughout the year, students will engage with each other and gain practical knowledge about making the transition into a Student Affairs career. Topics will include areas such as assistance with the graduate school admission process, resume and cover letter writing, preparation for entrance exams, mock interviewing, and development of their personal statements.

USA students will also have the opportunity to learn and hear from current Student Affairs professionals and graduate students during monthly meetings and have the chance to take the Careers in Student Affairs course offered on campus to expand further their knowledge of Student Affairs. Additionally, USA student will have the chance to attend their first professional Student Affairs conference during the spring 2019 semester and participate in an on-campus internship opportunity this coming summer.

If you are interested in joining USA, please contact either Mrs. Yewande Odunaiya-Moore at aodunaiy@kent.edu or Dr. Chris Tankersley at ctankers@kent.edu.
