Kent State University Glauser School of Music alumnus Richard Kibler has been named Stark County's 2020 Music Educator of the Year. Richard earned his Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Kent State in 1981 and currently teaches band in the Lake Local Schools. Kibler was presented with the award during a recent Canton Symphony Orchestra concert.
Another Kent State alumnus, Brian Kieffer, received the annual award in 2018. Kieffer earned his Master of Music in Choral Conducting and has taught vocal music in the Plain Local Schools for over 30 years. Several other Kent State alumni have also been finalists for the distinction since its inception in 2017.
