Finance and Administration DEI Strategic Planning Guidelines

The Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is proud to lead the university-wide diversity, equity, and inclusion strategic planning process. As announced by President Todd Diacon, this initiative will involve every unit of our eight-campus system via a comprehensive review of policies, procedures and processes that impact all who learn, work, and live at our university.

Ms. Renee Romine, executive director of Training, Development and Human Resources Communications, is our Divisional Unit Lead.

Our division’s senior leadership team members will serve as the overall unit sponsors and steering committee. This process will be a collaborative effort and we need your help, engagement, and energy in delivering meaningful, actionable goals and objectives. Our overarching aim is clear: to ensure that everything we do at Kent State University is inclusive and equitable for all stakeholders - our students, faculty, staff, and community.

Our work will revolve around four teams:

  1. Finance and Audit
  2. Facilities
  3. Human Resources, and
  4. Public Safety and Risk Management

The process has begun with a year of planning, data-gathering, and initial goal setting, followed by three years of goal implementation.

Each unit will be charged with developing DEI-related strategic objectives and reviewing its mission statement with a focus on:
•    Recruitment policies, procedures, and practices,
•    Selection and hiring,
•    Retention, belonging and climate,
•    Promotion and professional development,
•    Expertise and capacity building.
